James Garner - 1928-2014; American actor who starred in over fifty movies, including The Great Escape, Grand Prix, Support Your Local Sheriff! and Victor Victoria. From 1974 he starred in the hugely successful TV series The Rockford Files - 5.5 x 3.5 inches (14 x 9 cm) autographed photo, signed: "To Bobby, best wishes, James Garner. Nice authentic later autograph. £25 [ref: JG2] [N.B. Autographed photos of James Garner, particularly large 8 x 10 inches (20 x 25 cm) film-shots, were frequently signed by his late business manager, Jess Morgan, in black sharpie/marker pen, and not by Garner himself. Morgan's version of Garner's autograph is fairly convincing, but his capital "J" starts differently and is often larger and rounder. For a reliably authentic Garner autograph I always look for a later, mature photo and autograph, especially one with a personal message or dedication, like the two authentic ones for sale above. Garner particularly liked signing in blue, silver or gold marker pen.] | |
